Welcome to the Newsroom!

Welcome to the Edmond Public Schools newsroom. This is where you will find timely information on district news and  school activities. Our goal is to provide communication through a variety of means to promote a better understanding of the objectives, accomplishments and needs of our schools and students and to generate engagement and support from the community.

What Makes a Good Story for Local News Media

The following guidelines may be helpful when submitting news items to the public information office for distribution to media.

Does the story interest a wide variety of people?
Is there something about the story that is unique? (Eric making the football team is not an interesting story, however Eric making the football team after a lung transplant is an interesting story.)
    Does the story evoke emotion?
Can the story be told in a visual way?

Tips for Taking and Submitting Photos

Resolution - Many digital photos are not useable by newspapers because they are taken with a low-resolution camera (less than 2 megapixels).  Generally speaking, a higher number of megapixels means a photo will be higher quality.

Emailing Digital Photos - Email your images as individual attachments, not embedded in a Word or PowerPoint document, to susan.parksschlepp@edmondschools.net.

Captions - In the body of your email, include the photo names with corresponding names and titles of photo subjects (pictures left to right) and information to be emphasized in the published photo caption.
