IMMUNIZATION EXCEPTIONS
DTP’S and Polio’s
If the 4th dose of DTP/DtaP and the 3rd dose of Polio vaccine were given on or after the child’s 4th birthday then the 5th dose of DTP/DtaP and 4th dose of Polio are not required. The 5th dose of DtaP must be administered on or after the child’s 4th birthday.
1st dose of Measles, Mumps and Rubella must be given on or after the child’s first birthday: 2nd dose may be just measles or MMR. (1st and 2nd may be given one month apart).
When asked time before receiving next shots
DTP’s Between 2-3--------1 month
Between 3-4--------4 months
Polio Between 2-3--------1 months
Between 3-4--------6 weeks
Hepatitis B 3 doses (two different schedules)
#1 schedule
2 months between 1st and 2nd and 2 months between 2nd and 3rd, there must be 4 months between the 1st and 3rd.
#2 schedule
1 month between 1st and 2nd and 5 months between 2nd and 3rd.
Rules---- There must be 1 month between 1st and 2nd, at least 2 months between 2nd and 3rd, and 4 months between the 1st and 3rd.
(The 3rd dose of Hepatitis B must be given after the child is 6 months of age.)
Hepatitis B 2 dose
This only applies to students who are 11-15 years old.
Only Recombivax HB two 1.0ml/cc doses given 4 months apart.
Hepatitis A
There must be at least 6 months between 1st and 2nd, but can have up to 18 months between shots.
It is not necessary to restart the series of any vaccine due to longer than recommended time periods between doses.
A four-day grace period is allowed for all doses of any vaccine.
Only live vaccine is MMR and Varicella (May be given on the same day---If not must be given 4-6 weeks apart.)
Children must attend school while they are “in the process” of receiving immunizations. The parent should give you a schedule provided by their physician or country health department with a timetable for completion of immunizations.
Children transferring into Oklahoma schools from other states must meet Oklahoma requirements for immunizations.
