The elementary program encompasses grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The elementary curriculum provides challenging learning activities for all students in the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, language, and fine arts. Computer technology is integrated throughout the curriculum. Instructional specialists in music, art, physical education, Spanish, and gifted education are available in each of the thirteen elementary schools. A media center is an integral part of each school. Half-day kindergarten classes are provided for all children. As space is available, a half-day four-year-old program is provided at several school sites. Students must be five years old on or before September 1 to attend kindergarten. Four-year-old students must be four years old on or before September 1.
