What is unique about West Field?

 
bulletGreat Expectations methodology is implemented school wide. A mentor from GE works with our staff to integrate GE tenets and recommended practices into all aspects of the school culture.
bulletTeachers regularly collaborate in teams to ensure success for all students through flexible yet differentiated instructional strategies including enrichment and intervention activities.
bulletState-of-the-art technology is installed in every classroom for daily instructional use. A new multi-station computer lab is available for all students and teachers.
bulletA spacious and inviting Library-Media Center houses a brand new collection of literature and other new materials.
The Media Center also includes a specially designed story area and an outdoor reading area.
bulletClassrooms are configured in a “pod” formation with classrooms that open into a commons area equipped with restrooms and a teacher workroom.
bulletOutdoor learning areas are located adjacent to commons areas.
bulletEach grade level pod has two classrooms engineered and designated as storm shelters.
bulletEarly childhood classrooms have individual restrooms and are clustered in a pod with access to a small gated “tot lot” playground.

What is the mascot?

    

bulletWest Field students submitted suggestions for the new mascot.  Wildcats received an incredible percent of the votes! 
bulletStudents voted for a suitable name for our new West Field Wildcat mascot.  "Ace" was the overwhelming winner.  "Ace" is in reference to wild-catter Ace Gutowski.  Gutowski speculated fro oil by using an innovative method of a “doodle bug” attached to a gold chain hanging from a goat-skinned bottle, to search for oil.  Gutowski selected the property that our school sits upon for the first drilling effort.

Which grades does West Field offer?

bulletWest Field offers kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grades.
bulletMild and moderate special education programs will be offered as well.
bulletPre-kindergarten classes are also offered through the District "lottery" choice system.

What are the West Field hours?

bulletWest Field is an “early” start school.
bulletSchool hours are 8:35AM—3:05PM.
bulletPre-K and Kindergarten hours are 8:35-11:05AM or 12:35-3:05PM

What secondary schools do West Field students attend?

bulletStudents will feed into Summit Middle School and Santa Fe High School.

Is a childcare program offered?

bulletYes, we operate our own before and after school DHS licensed part-time child care program. We have open enrollment. Please contact us if you are interested in enrolling your child and to find out if space is available.
