Orchestra News
Contest season has been a real challenge this year with all the snow days. I picked Dance of the Tumblers by Rimsky-Korsakoff and Spartacus which was rhythmically and emotionally driven music that the students really enjoy playing. We worked very hard to get the music up to tempo and succeeded. The judges commented on our large sound and spirited playing. We received an Excellent in Concert and a Superior in Sight-reading. I am very pleased with how they performed. Thanks also to Mr. Ketch and our fine parents for all your help.
District Solo contest was Sat. February 27th. I had 14 students perform and they will did very well. 6th grade is now working on finger patterns and will start the “G” scale on a lower sting. I hope your student is practicing carefully and filling out their practice log weekly.
