Caroll Newton
Media Assistant
I work in the Cheyenne Media Center as an assistant where I enjoy helping students, parents and teachers with their library needs. I love reading our books and assisting students to choose a book they will enjoy. Prior to Cheyenne, I was an assistant at Will Rogers and Angie Debo Elementary Schools and have worked in the Edmond School system 15 years. Before that I was a lead teacher and taught a language development program at First Christian Church Child Care Center in Edmond. My education includes a B.S. in Secondary Education from UCO.
In my "spare time" I work my own business, partnering with Creative Memories to teach others how to celebrate memories through photos and stories via scrapbooks, custom framing and digital storybooks.
My husband, Jim and I have been married 34 fun years. We have 3 grown children: Tyson is in the Air Force stationed at Fort Mead, Maryland and engaged to be married soon. Abram and his wife Kristin are the parents of our first grandchild, Madeline and baby # 2 is on the way! Melanie is a (my personal!) hairstylist and has a business pampering brides on their wedding day by going "on-site" to style hair for the wedding party.fun!
I love reading, quilting, scrapboooking and just being with Madeline! One of my favorite quotes is from the lyrics of an old African folk song that says "when an old person dies, it's as if a library has burned down. Richness of family heritage in each person's life will be lost if it isn't passed on to the next generation."
