Monday, September 28th: We will look over primary documents to further analyze the events of the Revolutionary War. Documents include: An American Crisis, Don't Tread on Me, Washington's Farewell to his Troops, and more. Tuesday, September 29th: Clicker Review Day!!! The students will answer questions about the Revolutionary War, trying to get as many right as possible. There are prizes for the winners. Also, the students will write down information from the review that they need to study to prepare for the test. Wednesday, September 30th: Chapter 6 Exam today. Thursday, October 1st: Today is our first Benchmark Exam. It will cover the contents of the Early Period of Mercantilism and the French and Indian War, British Imperial Policy and the Revolutionary War. The students will get to show how much information they have retained so far this school year. Friday, October 2nd: The students will spend the first half of class outlining their ISNs for chapter 7. This will include pasting in a new chapter cover and designing the pages of their ISNs for notes and other activities. The second half of class will be spent viewing a video over the early creation of our country's government. Monday, September 21st:Today, we are outlining our ISNs for chapter 6. This will include: writing down the new assignments in our assignment tracker, pasting in our new chapter cover on page 27, defining the chapter six terms on page 28, and outlining all of our chapter six reading activities. We will conclude class with a 23 minute video over the events of the Revolutionary War. Tuesday, September 22nd: We will get into partners and do a modified GIST reading activity to take notes for chapter 6, section 1. We will likely not finish our activity today, so we will reserve some time to finish tomorrow. Wednesday, September 23rd: We will finish our GIST reading activity. We will review the notes and highlight important information. Then, I will show a power point presentation over chapter 6, section 2. The students will follow along, filling in their notes as we go. Thursday, September 24th: The students will break up into groups to do the rotation activity for chapter 6, sections 3 and 4 notes. In their groups, they will answer questions about each of the sections from their notes. Friday, September 25th: We will have a shortened schedule today because Lyric Theater is coming to perform "1776" for our students! During class, we will complete a time line activity over the events of the Revolutionary War. Monday, September 14th: Today, we will finish watching the documentary on United 93. The students will write a reflection in their ISNs discussing any questions, comments, or other feelings about the events of 9/11. We will spend the rest of class discussing the Declaration of Independence. Tuesday, September 15th: Clicker Review Day! The Chapter 5 test will be tomorrow! Wednesday, September 16th: Chapter 5 Test Thursday, September 17th: Constitution Day! Friday, September 18th: We will go over our chapter 5 test and discuss what we need to further study. Tuesday, September 8th: Today, we will take a quiz over British Imperialism, using our ISNs. When the students finish, they will copy down the outlines for the rest of the week's assignments. We will spend the last part of class watching a video over the causes of the Revolutionary War. Wednesday, September 9th: Today, we will get into groups and take notes over the Pre-Revolutionary War events. Thursday, September 10th: I will go through a power point presentation with the students to make sure they have all of the appropriate information in their notes for the Pre-Revolutionary War events. Friday, September 11th: We will do an activity today over the Declaration of Independence and Democracy. The students will examine the document and report in their ISNs how it represents democracy. After the activity, the students will watch a documentary over the events of September 11th, 2001. Wednesday, September 2nd: Students will cut and paste the primary documents for British Imperial Policy into their ISNs. We will format these documents in a time line so that the students will have a visual of the order of events leading up to the Revolutionary War. They will finish the class by looking up the dates for each of the events. Thursday, September 3rd: We will divide into groups to look up and learn the information on British Imperial Policy. Students will look at their primary documents and other information provided for them to determine how each of the events led to the Revolutionary War. Friday, September 4th: The students will further analyze what they have seen and read about British Imperial Policy. We will have a class discussion about the events and look at more primary documents to help us analyze the events further. Monday, August 24th:Today, we will spend the entire class period decorating our Interactive Student Notebooks. This is the only day we will do this in class. Whatever the students did not finish, they will be responsible for at home. Tuesday, August 25th: Today, the students will learn the early information necessary to understand the causes of the American Revolution. We will use our ISNs for the first time! The lesson will be completed by way of a power point. Wednesday, August 26th: We will finish learning the early information. We will follow up our lesson by watching a video covering Early America. Thursday, August 27th: French and Indian War!!! We will read and take notes on Chapter 4, section 3. Friday, August 28th: 2nd day of the French and Indian War!!! We will read and take notes on Chapter 4, section 4.
Tuesday, August 18th:
First Day of School! Students will receive several handouts to bring home to parents. A few of the handouts need to be signed and returned by the end of this week.
Wednesday, August 19th:
Beginning of the year test!!! Not really, but we will play a game to see how much the students already know before we get started.
Thursday, August 20th:
Fish Philosophy with Mrs. Ivey!!! We will enjoy a fun workshop today reminding students of how a good attitude will lead to a successful school year!
Friday, August 21st:
We will go to the media center to work with Mrs. Babb on getting logged in to the library resources. FYI: It is important to have the students' internet agreement forms turned in by today so that they will be able to log in. Mrs. Babb has informed me that students without their agreement signed will sit on the floor and watch.
