1.   Vocab Words
Go to www.m-w.com, Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary.
Look up the definition of each vocab word for this week.
Listen to the pronunciation.
Open Microsoft Word and list each vocab word and definition. Include your name. Print one hard copy to turn in.

Spelling Plus Math

 

         What do you get if you multiply the number of consonants in a word by the sum of its syllables and vowels?  Spelling plus math, that’s what!  This is a fun way to practice spelling those new words from your books that you are reading and reviewing those math facts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MYSTERY STATE

 

We are studying the states of the U.S. Can you name each mystery state after reading the clue and doing some research?

 

1.     If you drive down the highway in this state, you might run into Salem Sue. She is the world’s largest cow! Tourists to New Salem “moo” over this 6-ton roadside sculpture, who stands tall and proud.

 

2.     This southwestern state, nickname the Land of Enchantment, has a higher percentage of Hispanic people than any other state. The state is bilingual, and one in every three families in this state speaks Spanish at home.

 

3.     Talk about a giant! The redwood, the world’s tallest tree, can grow to the height of 370 feet. It is the official tree of this state.  Many of the giant redwoods in this state’s Sequoia National Park are more than 2,000 years old.
