                                                                          Spanish Letter: March 2010

Dear Family,

Your student is currently working on Unidad 2, Etapa 2 of Level 1 of ¡En español!  It focuses on authentic culture and real-life communication using Spanish in Mexico City.  It practices reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and introduces students to cultural typical of Mexico City.

Through completing the activities, students will employ critical thinking skills as they compare the Spanish language and the culture of Mexico City with their own community.  They will also connect to other academic subjects, using their knowledge of Spanish to access new information.  In this etapa, students are learning to talk about schedules, ask and tell time, ask questions, say where they are going, and request food.  They are also learning about grammar—the verbs ir and estar, phrases to use when telling time, and interrogative words.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have as your student practices the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Spanish.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pavlovich
