RECENT NEWS:

Monday, March 1st, 2010 - Today, all classes were given a review sheet for Wednesday's writing test.  The review sheet includes reminders and tips to help students better their overall score.  We also continued our poetry unit by reading/discussing It's all I have to bring today - by Emily Dickinson (page 606) and Mother to Son by Langston Hughes (page 616).  These two poems allow us to review sound devices, make inferences and determine the purpose for reading.

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 - All classes are in the library today for the orientation of the research unit.

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 - OCCT WRITING TEST

Thursday, March 4th, 2010 - Due to a previously scheduled engagement in the library, all classes will be in the regular classroom today.  We completed the OCCT Skills Practice on pages 656-661 of the literature book.

Friday, March 5th, 2010 - All classes continued research today in the library.  Each student has a folder that contains all of the information for the research paper as well as any new information the students download from the library computers or photo copy from books; however, I am keeping the folders in the classroom to prevent them from being lost.  As a result of OCCT testing being pushed back because of snow days, the research paper due date will be pushed back as well.  Right now, the paper will not be due until AFTER spring break.  Please, please, please.....if you have any questions about the paper, do not hesitate to call me (715-6273) or e-mail me at errin.coffelt@edmondschools.net

Monday, March 8th, 2010 - All classes continued research today in the library.

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 - All classes are back in the classroom today.  We worked on our research template (rough draft), and all students received a research paper checklist.  Due to the change in library time, the due date for the research paper has been pushed back to Tuesday, March 23rd.  Students will be required to attend ZAP if papers are not turned in on time.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - Today, we continued the research unit with a lesson on how to correctly compose a bibliography page.  Again, if you have questions about our current research unit, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me.

Thursday, March 11, 2010 - All classes completed a reading comprehension and grammar packet today.  In addition, we addressed questions over the research paper.  The paper is due on Tuesday, March 23rd.

Friday, March 12, 2010 - All classes worked out of the OCCT skills preparation materials, specifically targeting words in context and reading comprehension.  Have a wonderful break!
