the Animal Research activity listed above.
Begin by asking which student researched the beetle. Ask the
student to share a few facts about beetles; be sure to
include how many legs, and that the
wings form a line down the center of the back. Then students
use the Paint program to illustrate one ladybug, leaving
plenty of room around. Use the select tool to copy and paste
3-5 more ladybugs. Make a minor, but noticeable, change to
one as you create a "which one is different" activity. Trade
computers or files to solve.
Tip: Paint does not print well, but you can insert the saved
creation in a Word document and print.

Option: Use a timer to play for a specified
time, creating your own innings. (A timer is available with the

5-Day Forecast
Open Microsoft Word. Use File, Page setup to change to Landscape
layout rather than Portrait. Insert a table. Discuss columns and
rows. How many columns will you need for a 5-day forecast?
Research a local weather site to get an actual forecast including
predicted highs and lows. Type the degree symbol by pressing and
holding the Alt. key, along with 2, 4, then 8 on the numeric
keypad. (Num Lock must be on.)
Weather graphics can be saved from
Awesome Clipart for
Kids & Educators. Discuss copyright restrictions and notice their homepage
states these are free.
Print your completed forecast and compare with actual weather each
day to see how accurate the predictions were.
Add a bulleted list of severe weather safety tips below the
forecast chart. (www.kfor.com Weather page offers terrific ones
under Tornado Safety) Right-click the ordinary bullet on your
document, then customize. See the Webdings font for clouds you can
use as bullets.
