SRO

The School Resource Officer is a full-time, certified Edmond police officer assigned to a specific public school in the Edmond school system.  The police department currently provides an SRO to Edmond Memorial, Edmond Santa Fe, and Edmond North high schools.  There is also an SRO assigned to Edmond's middle schools.

The SRO's normal assigned patrol area is the campus and immediate land area around their school.  The SRO is responsible for handling all calls for service and coordinating the response of other police resources to the school.  SROs are familiar with school rules and their application within Edmond Public Schools.  SROs refer school rule infractions to the school's principal, or their designee, for action.  The SRO's primary duty is to enforce federal, state and municipal laws in and around their school.

Mission Statement

As School Resource Officer, my goal is to make the students and faculty at Edmond Memorial High School feel comfortable and secure in a very positive learning environment, by providing a positive, caring role model for all students; by interacting with both the students and faculty as a Police Officer and a friend; by showing students the benefits of a positive attitude and the art of communication with one another and those in authority.

Bruce Graham

School Resource Officer

Effective schooling requires a safe and orderly environment in which learning can occur.  The Edmond Police Department, in cooperation with the Edmond Public Schools system, has incorporated a School Resource Officer program in order to provide school administrators and staff with law enforcement resources and the expertise they need to maintain safety, order and discipline in the school environment.
