CAREER COUNSELOR ONLINE NEWSLETTER
Month of October
Classroom Guidance
I will have a classroom set up for career guidance soon. I will see classes to build a better understanding of what is being offered currently in the employment world and help define their personal interests. Students can come to my office or classroom for career exploration. OKCIS and Bridges are two wonderful career orientated programs that students can access. Students can set up a portfolio to save information about themselves. There are many occupations listed that they can explore to learn about what the job entails, how much it pays and where to get the training.

The PLAN will be given to Sophomores on October 6, 2008. The PSAT/NMSQT will be given on October 15, 2008.

Classroom Guidance
Did you know the jobs of today are changing? New jobs are being created everyday and we need to plan ahead to keep our students successful. There are jobs that have not even been created as of yet that will take the place of our existing jobs. Scary I know but the good news is that with the help of all the technology available, I can provide a wonderful opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of student’s personalities. Well you might be asking how to do that? I have an answer…RESEARCH. We have to educate ourselves and others on what is being offered and up coming change. What better way of doing that than to explore career fields.

OKCIS is offered to all Edmond North students as a way to discover their personality interests, various career fields and what is needed to accomplish these goals. I will help orientate students to this program. Be sure to ask your student to show you how to access the inventory on the web. It provides excellent information that everyone can use as students make decisions about their future. I will be working with students in understanding themselves in order to guide them to their goal. I also have some other online and cd rom programs that help explore personality types and career fields.
