 Teen Read Week, October 18-24, 2009!  This year's theme was "Read beyond reality @ your library". This event is sponsored nationally by the Young Adult Library Services Division of the American Library Association, We had great fun celebrating with the "My  Favorite E.T."  and Science Fiction Trivia contests!

 

AUTHOR VISITS

Oklahoma's award-winning author, Anna Myers, will spend the day on April 1, 2010 at Sequoyah with our 6th grade reading classes. She is the author of many young adult books, including:  Red Dirt Jessie, Spotting the Leopard, Rosie's Tiger, Ethan Between Us, Stolen By the Sea, The Keeping Room, Spy, Graveyard Girl, Confessions From the Principal's Office, Flying Blind, Assassin, and many more.  Her books appear on many "best books" and Sequoyah masterlist award lists. She is a wonderful speaker and storyteller (also a retired Language Arts teacher) who lives in Chandler, Oklahoma. November 

November 2-9, 2009  Book Fair!  Come to the annual Scholastic Book Fair, which is in the Media Center this year! We'll be open each day from 8:15-2:15 and there are lots of cool books and gift items for sale. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

Update: We had a GREAT Book Fair!  Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers for their help with the Fair and to our teachers, students, and parents for their support of the Fair. 

 

 

 


April 11-17, 2010   National Library Week!   We love to celebrate reading. so be sure to watch for the flyers posted around school to find out how to participate in the contests and activities. We have some great books and prizes to give away too.

May 10-16, 2010   Children's Book Week. Started in 1919,  Children's' Book Week celebrates books and reading. We love to celebrate reading holidays at Sequoyah, so watch for more information about some fun activities and contests the Media Center  sponsors.
