On-line Databases
What is a database?? A collection of information organized & stored together on a computer. Online means you can use it on your computer when you access it via the world wide web.
Here are the subscription online resources the Edmond Public School district & State of Oklahoma provide for us. You can use them on any of the school and media center computers. (You can also use some of these at home; see Mrs. H. or Mrs. Andrus for your copy of Sequoyah's research brochure with passwords).
Ebsco You can search magazines, newspapers, newswires, images, journals, and other items on this collection of online databases. After accessing the login page, choose school libraries or one of the other databases to begin your search.
SIRS Discoverer You can search selected articles & images from 1600 newspapers, magazines, and government documents. There are special sections on biography, country facts, maps, pictures & photo essays, a dictionary/thesaurus, current events, hot topics, and more. Articles have an assigned reading level--easy, moderate, or challenging.
World Book Online This favorite encyclopedia is online with several special features, including Today in History & Current Events sections, a dictionary, select websites, and others. This is easy to search on and use.
Culturegrams Online Information about all of the countries in the world, including basic facts like maps, population, people, etc., plus customs, greeting, & recipes, This is a great, easy-to-use resource.
Library Catalog/Webpath Express: This can only be used at school right now, but the addition of Webpath Express gives us websites to go along with books from our collection that you can use for your information needs.
