General Guidelines and Procedures

Do not get involved with or do anything that would ever embarrass a team member, coach or Summit.

1.      Class: Show it in all that you do.

2.      Respect: This includes respect for your coaches, your teammates, your opponents and yourself.

3.      Positive Attitude: Constantly compliment and encourage each other.

4.      Effort:  Regardless of your ability, you can give 100%.

5.      Self-Discipline: It is a privilege to be a member of the Summit Tennis team.  No one athlete is more important than the team.  Please take responsibility for yourself.

6.      Timeliness:  Arriving to and leaving from practice promptly is a must.  Please be on the courts, dressed and ready to go before the beginning of practice.  The coaches cannot leave until every team member has left; therefore your ride needs to be at Santa Fe to pick you up when practice is over.

7.      School Rules:  ALL school rules apply until you are released to your parents (after practice or match).  An “I Pod” will be allowed at tournaments during down time.  An “I Pod” should remain in your bag until we have departed school grounds and we will not be responsible if they are lost or damaged.  Cell phones may be used to contact parents after practice or a tournament, but they will remain off until then.  Please use precaution to protect your personal property or leave it at home.

8.      Classroom: Conduct yourself appropriately.  Your schoolwork comes first and you are responsible for getting assignments before each tournament and turning them in on time.  Test, quizzes and homework must be completed BEFORE the day missed (unless teacher states otherwise) MISSING SCHOOL FOR A SCHOOL ACTIVITY IS NOT CONSIDERED IN THE ABSENCE POLICY!  You will not be given extra days to complete work missed for tournaments.

9.      Eligibility:  We follow the Oklahoma eligibility guidelines.

Probation: You may practice, but may not compete.

Ineligible: You will not be allowed to practice or compete.

10. AISP or Out of School suspension: You will not be able to practice or compete in a tournament if you have been suspended from school.

11.  Practice Schedule is as follows:

Mondays and Wednesdays- Girls

Tuesdays and Thursdays- Boys

Fridays- Challenge matches

All practices take place at Santa Fe High School from 4-5:15 p.m.

A Practice and Tournament Calendar will be passed out at the first practice.

12. Clothing and Gear: Team t-shirts will be ordered. These should be worn for duels and tournaments. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. Summit dress code rules apply. Each player is responsible for their own racquet, shoes, and other tennis accessories. The school will provide tennis balls.

13. Consequences: Failure to follow the above guidelines may include     tournament suspension, parent contact and in severe cases removal from the team.
