Technology Literacy

6th – 7th – 8th Grade Semester Class
Technology Literacy is required to be taken one semester during middle school.
Students will be taught basic technological skills that will be necessary for success in middle and high school. They will learn keyboarding and word processing. Students will also become skilled at creating spreadsheets, databases, and presentations using Microsoft Office software. An understanding of computer history, digital media, and research techniques will also be developed.
Students will learn to research on the Internet and prepare PowerPoint presentations based on that research.  They will show their presentations to the class.  Research topics will include famous Oklahomans, businesspeople, and historic figures.

We will also cover Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Access.  This is a project-based class in which students will learn skills and then work on projects to show their knowledge of skills learned.

I have enjoyed teaching at Summit for 13 years.  I have a Bachelor's degree

from ECU in Ada and a Master's Degree from UCO in Edmond.  I recently

earned national certification in my field.  I have a great 21 year old

who is a junior at UCO.  My family includes two lazy cats,

one sweet geriatric pound puppy, and one crazy Shih-tzu puppy.
