How are these testing instruments connected to the student……
Levels 1&2: These are immediate evaluation tools. They analyze what is currently
being taught in the classroom based on district adopted textbooks.
The scores on these tests ARE part of the students’ daily grades.
Levels 3&4: These are state evaluation tools covering a broader range of skills taught. They are cumulative,
encompassing the entire years’ curriculum. Level 3, students must pass the reading test to
receive their driver's licenses. Level 4, students must pass 2 of the 5 following tests
plus Alg I and Eng II: Biology, Alg II, Eng III, Geometry, or US History to receive a high
school diploma. These tests do no impact the student’s daily grades BUT they are a key
component to the student’s academic records and future achievement potential.
Levels 5,6: These are nationally administered tests. These tests are used for college admittance along with
grades, leadership qualities, involvement in extracurricular actives and recommendations from
teachers. This testing has no bearing on the student’s daily grades BUT a definite impact on their
educational opportunities beyond high school.
