Will Rogers Elementary
School
Philosophy
The Will Rogers curriculum is designed to develop children’s knowledge and skills in all developmental areas—physical, social, emotional, and intellectual. Emphasis is placed on helping students learn how to learn and on establishing the foundation and desire for lifelong learning. Each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of growth. Different levels of ability, development, and learning styles are expected, accepted, and used to plan the educational program. A variety of learning experiences and materials are utilized. It is recognized that learning is optimal when it is viewed by the learner as something which is relevant and useful. Importance is placed on the active involvement of the student in the learning process. Activities are designed to be concrete, real, and meaningful to children’s lives.
