Our Project SEARCH interns recently had the opportunity to job shadow at Scissortail and Angie Debo cafeterias, gaining valuable, real-world experience in food service operations. Interns worked alongside cafeteria staff to learn roles across the kitchen—from food preparation and sanitation to understanding health department standards.
They practiced tasks like washing and sorting fruit, preparing salads, packing sack lunches for field trips, and even learning how cafeteria teams are managed day to day. Interns also shared their resumes while exploring potential employment opportunities within the district. One of our interns got sent to the principal's office........to deliver her breakfast!!!
This immersive experience helped build job skills, professional confidence, and meaningful community connections. We’re proud of our interns and grateful to our school cafeteria teams for making this experience possible! 👏

This week, Project SEARCH is proud to highlight our incredible interns at the Integris Health Edmond Women’s Center! Our team is working hard behind the scenes to support moms and their newborns.
With the guidance of their skills trainer, instructor, and Integris mentors, these interns are mastering essential hospital operations:
🍼 Creating Care Kits: Assembling baby bath kits, IV start kits, and new mother gift bags.
🩺 Supporting Staff: Keeping supplies stocked for our doctors and nurses.
🧺 Patient Comfort: Managing linens and keeping the blanket warmers full.
🧼 Safety First: Ensuring triage rooms are cleaned and sanitized.
Beyond their daily tasks, our interns are building meaningful professional relationships with their mentors and managers. They’ve even stepped up to help with special projects like expiration audits and event setup for new families!

She also supports interns as they rotate through multiple internship sites, helping them learn job-specific tasks and build independence in real work environments. 🏢✨
She is an integral part of Special Services and provides valuable feedback and support to her peers. She collaborates closely with Skills Trainers, mentors, business partners, and families 👥 to ensure each intern is supported every step of the way. She also teaches essential life skills such as time management ⏰, workplace behavior 👍, and self-advocacy 🗨️—skills that set interns up for long-term success. 🌱
