core value award winners

Mary Kay Schroeder, Counselor at Will Rogers, was nominated for HOPE. Mary Kay demonstrates the core value of Hope as she consistently goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels loved, safe, and cared for. She has worked to create an outdoor space for teachers and students to enjoy and fostered a positive school community through student groups that encourage leadership and motivation among 5th graders. Her dedication brings hope and inspiration to everyone around her.

Maye Bote & Olga Ceron both work in the cafeteria at Summit Middle School and were nominated for HOPE. From the time they step into the parking lot, they both exude joy. They are the first to greet people with big smiles and loving kindness. Summit’s students and staff are blessed each day to be able to have them greet them in the cafeteria as they foster an environment of engagement and joy for everyone they see.

Carleena Khamasi, teacher at Bright Beginnings (our employee childcare center) was nominated for BELONGING. Ms. Carleena is the heart and soul of Bright Beginnings. She has such a great way of listening to people's problems and helping them find solid solutions. She is also amazing with her student's parents. She is a great example of how we are truly a team with the parents of the children who are in our care. There isn't a morning that goes by that previous students and their families stop by her classroom to say "hi".
