After learning about real equipment and how construction crews stay safe, students got a hands-on (and sweet!) experience of their own… using a toy excavator to scoop up candy. 😋🍭 #ShineYourLight

👏 Dr. Angie Debo was a pioneering historian and activist, who impacted Oklahoma in the late 1890s into the early 1900s. ✴️ Jodi Wolf, Behavior Interventionist at Orvis Risner was nominated for BELONGING. Mrs. Wolf works extremely hard to make sure every child at Orvis Risner feels like our school is a safe place that creates opportunities for our families to connect with each other and feel accepted. She started our Cultural Connections Day last year, which gives students a chance to celebrate their culture and share it with others. Orvis Risner has received so much positive feedback on that initiative and families have noted how much it helped them feel connected to each other and the school.
✴️ Cara Day, Pre-K Teacher at Washington Irving, was nominated for COLLABORATION. Mrs. Day recognized a need to strengthen fine motor skills across our school and immediately took initiative. She not only ran with the idea but also worked closely with her team to create targeted interventions and a system to track student growth over time. She then expanded the work beyond the classroom by partnering with colleagues to host a family information night, including “make and take” activities to teach families the importance of fine motor development and provide simple strategies they can use at home. This event strengthened the school's school-home connection and gave families practical tools to support learning.
✴️ Brent Young, Transportation Assistant Director was nominated for INTEGRITY. Mr. Young leads with integrity each day. He is always willing to listen, which fosters a sense of trust and community. Mr. Young is easy to work with, which boosts morale daily. He is frequently in the field, working side by side with drivers and bus monitors to address real-time needs and challenges, exemplifying servant leadership and hands-on collaboration within our growing district.
These three are fantastic representatives for EPS and we are honored to celebrate them! 😊🙌 #ShineYourLight

There are no remote learning expectations for our students today. The instructional time missed today will need to be made up, so employees on 240 and 245 day contracts should report to work or use 50/50 leave today. We will share information about how today’s missed instructional time will be made up as soon as possible.
We are aware parts of the district have clear roads, but as you know our district covers a large area and neighborhood conditions are very different depending on where you are. We have been working tirelessly since Sunday to get our buildings back open as quickly as possible, but safety continues to be our top priority. While many roads around the district are in good shape, the re-freeze overnight and early morning drizzle has created slick spots that make it unsafe for our buses.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.

There are no remote learning expectations for our students and staff members should not report to work.
Our Operations Team has been working since Sunday and will continue working to get our buildings ready to welcome back our students and staff members as soon as it is safe to have school. Even though the temperatures have stayed at or below freezing, the sun is helping these efforts! We are hopeful we’ll be able to return to school on Thursday.

⛽️ In connection with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Black Student Union (BSU) from Memorial High School went to Luther, OK to visit the Threatt Filling Station. It is a historic stop along Route 66, and this visit was hosted by Edward Threatt, a descendant of Allen Threatt Sr., who constructed the station in 1915.
